Advanta Bulletin - Morocco earthquake
Sep 09, 2023
ADVANTA has activated its contingency plan for catastrophic events to secure our capacity to undertake claims as licenced adjusters in Morocco.
On Friday 8th September at 11 pm local time, a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck central Morocco, killing at least 820 people according to the country's interior ministry. The epicentre was in the High Atlas Mountains, 71km south-west of Marrakesh. Our hearts go out to the families of those who have lost their lives and everyone else affected by this disaster.
Since the earthquake’s effects are significant and may require substantial adjusting resources,
ADVANTA can confirm it is well-placed to assist our clients with exposures in the region, through our highly qualified team in the
ADVANTA Office in Morocco. The local team, led by Chris Cole and Kamal Taghzouti, is ready to provide immediate assistance to support international insurers and reinsurers.
