Explosion in Beirut, Lebanon / Update #2

The reader will recall that on August 4 2020 an extensive explosion occurred at the Port of Beirut causing sadly loss of life and extensive blast related damage to the port structures and property up to some 15 km from the epicentre of the blast.
Since arriving in the country, the Advanta Loss Adjusting team, working in tandem with local adjusters and engineers, have performed many site surveys, engaged with the insureds, local brokers, local insurers and local adjusters. Significant reporting to the local insurers and their reinsurers has been undertaken with loss estimates provided on more than 130 losses. Payments to those affected have started to flow following removal of debris and the repair and reconstruction of many properties.
Our Adjusting Team continue to attend on the ground supported by our Dubai and London offices. Our teams are fully licenced to work in Lebanon and our Adjusters are supported by our Quantity Surveyors and Engineers along with Surveyors.
Using state of the art 3D video imaging we have been able to perform detailed damage inspections enabling our Adjusters to create an accurate assessment of damage to the most significant properties at risk. Furthermore, our Quantity Surveyors have been able to collect on the ground BOQ information, analyse same and produce accurate references for the purposes of quantum cross reference and reporting to the market.
In terms of Business Interruption claims, our Forensic Adjusting team continue to provide support.
