Behind every Aviation Claim
Oct 15, 2026
When an Aircraft is damaged, the first questions are usually practical. Who needs to be on site? Who has been told? How soon can the Aircraft be moved? The harder questions come afterwards, and they tend to be technical, financial and legal all at once.
That is how our Aviation team is set up. We handle Hull and Liability claims, from Aircraft needing extensive repairs to serious accidents involving passengers and cargo. On the technical side, that means risk engineering, coordinating the recovery of the Aircraft and investigating the circumstances. On the financial side, Loss of Profits and Business Interruption, with our forensic accounting team quantifying the numbers. Should a Claim turn contentious, we support coverage disputes and litigation. Throughout, we look after the Claim from the first notification to final settlement.
The legal aspect warrants specific mention, because it is often a surprise to those outside the Aviation sector. Aviation is governed by extensive International Treaties, Conventions and Law. The Montreal Convention 1999, which governs an airline’s liability to passengers and cargo shippers in many jurisdictions, is just one example. Understanding the Aircraft is only half of the story. Understanding the rules that decide how the claim should be considered and then finalised is the other half.
ADVANTA consider attending to a loss promptly following notification is key to successful investigation and ultimate resolution. Transparently working in step with Insurers, Insureds and Brokers and when appropriate Lawyers is key to timely Claim resolution.
In our experience, an Adjuster who understands both the engineering and how Airlines and Operators function is often what separates a Claim that is resolved efficiently from one that becomes protracted.
