Losses are the business end of our industry where theory and practice meet.

Case study presentations provide an excellent forum to examine whether the provided policy cover and exclusions are dealing with the risk exposure as underwriters’ intended.

In addition, Case Studies highlight points of dispute and ambiguities of cover and are a pragmatic technique to improve the quality of the future cover for similar risks.

In June 2012 we were privileged to present a major Tunnel loss to General Reinsurance’s clients of the German speaking markets during their Annual Technical Forum in Cologne. By virtue of the language skills within Advanta we are often able to present in the local tongue that facilitates sharing of ideas and assists a positive learning experience. Our local knowledge and experience in the African Sub-Saharan region is expanding.

Last June 2012, we participated in another workshop organized by “A Mundial Seguros” in Angola this time on Fire/Property Insurance: Policy Liability and Damage Evaluation. The event was well attended by claims staff, underwriting professionals and brokers. Soon we will take part in the 18th African Reinsurance Forum that will take place in Balaclava, Mauritius from 30th September to 3rd October 2012. This year's Forum will be held under the theme "Insurance and Reinsurance in Africa - The Next Decade".

From a city in the grip of Olympian excitement, on the eve of the world’s most important sports event, we wish all of our clients worldwide, a wonderful Olympic Games – may the best team win!
