ADVANTA has boosted its contingency plan for catastrophic events securing our capacity to undertake claims as licenced adjusters in the Middle East after the events caused by the tropical Cyclone Shaheen.
On October 3, the storm made landfall in Oman, about 80 km of the capital city of Muscat. Reaching continuous winds between 120 and 150 km/h, Shaheen brought extremely heavy rains and waves up to 10 m. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which monitors the North Indian Ocean basin, it was designated as a "severe cyclonic storm".
In Oman, more than 13 lost their lives as a consequence of landslides and flooding, and another 5,000 people were also moved into shelters. Our thoughts go out to the families of those who have been affected by this terrible event.
