Advanta Bulletin – Spain floods

Oct 31, 2024
Severe storms caused freak hailstorms and heavy flooding which surged through towns and villages, sweeping away cars as an emergency was declared across Spain's east coast. The storms brought over a month's worth of torrential rain to several areas in southeastern Spain, including the Valencian Community, Castilla–La Mancha, and Andalusia. The resulting floodwaters caused substantial property damage as mud-coloured water was seen tearing through villages and towns from Malaga down to Valencia.

Spain is still recovering from a severe drought and continues to register record high temperatures making it more difficult for the land to absorb high volumes of water. This storm was the third-worst natural disaster in modern Spanish history, with more storms expected over the coming days.

ADVANTA is ready to support our clients during these challenging times, with our adjusters already on-site, actively managing claims in the affected area. Our team in Spain, under the leadership of Rosa Perez, is prepared to offer immediate assistance to clients with interests in this region.
