Andrew Simmonds - UAE Country Manager

Andrew has 19 years’ experience successfully managing technical and complex claims internationally. He has built a reputation in the insurance market through his experience handling losses across the Middle East, including Oman, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. In his previous position at an international loss adjusting firm, Andrew led a large team of people across a variety of business lines, including Loss Adjusting Services in Power & Energy, Marine and Third-Party Administration. He also has valuable experience having worked in the UK on claims related to Commercial Property, Power & Energy and Natural Catastrophes. At Advanta, Andrew will reinforce the capabilities of our strong team in UAE to continue supporting our valued clients in the region, owing to his wealth of experience in leadership, process improvement and team management.
Sham Jacob - Regional Head of Marine
BE (Bachelor of Technology in Engineering), MBA (Masters in Business Administration, specialized in Insurance), Licensed Surveyor and Loss Assessor, Lloyds Agency CCSP Stage 1 and 2, Life Member of Insurance Institute of India, CII (Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute).
Sham is a qualified Engineer with more than 25 years’ experience in Marine Insurance and Loss Adjusting. He has held senior positions in UK and Middle East based loss adjusting practices, along with management roles in big companies in the area. Sham has been part of the Dubai office for the last four and half years, where he has handled Marine Hull, Pleasure Crafts, Freight Forwarders Liabilities and Marine Cargo claims amongst others. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration and is a well-known and respected professional in the Insurance market in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent.

BA (Bachelor of Risk Management and Insurance), Licensed Surveyor and Loss Adjuster (Jordan Insurance Authority), Technical Cargo Surveying (Lloyd’s of London), Cargo Claims and Recoveries (Lloyd’s of London).
Ayman is a licensed surveyor and loss adjuster with a Bachelor Degree in Risk Management & Insurance. Prior to joining Whitelaw Advanta, he gained 6 years’ experience working in Jordan and Northern Iraq as a surveyor. He specialises in marine and property claims and cargo inspections and surveys in the Middle East. In addition, Ayman has experience conducting investigations in regard to theft and fraud as well as hauliers liabilities and pre-risk surveys.

Matthew has over 10 years’ experience in the Insurance industry, having held positions in underwriting, data analysis and claims in the United Kingdom. He joined Advanta Whitelaw in 2018 and has experience handling a diverse caseload from our Dubai Office including Property, Construction, Plant and Machinery, Fidelity Guarantee, Jewelers Block and Liability. This is in addition to conducting special investigations relating to theft and fraud. Currently, Matthew is undertaking his Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters examinations.
B.Eng (Bachelor in Civil Engineering).
Muder has more than 8 years’ experience as a structural engineer working on large-scale complex projects with both engineering design and construction supervision roles. He has a solid background on international design codes and site construction issues, and is now applying his knowledge towards engineering and construction claims whilst pursuing the relevant certifications in loss adjusting.

B.Eng (Electronics & Instrumentation).
Sriram has over 9 years’ experience in Construction handling both small- and large-scale projects. He has first-hand experience in various roles like design, foundation, procurement and project planning. Sriram will combine his knowledge in Engineering claims management with the study of new credentials and certifications in order to reinforce his skills and experience as a Loss Adjuster.
