John Donald - Executive Director

John Donald heads up our Global Energy offering as Global Energy Director. He has worked as an energy loss adjuster for over 30 years, initially in the Middle East before transferring to London in 1990. In recent years he acted as Managing Director and Chairman of The Energy & Natural Resources division of a major loss adjusting firm. He has wide international experience in the onshore and offshore energy markets. John has managed the adjustment of many complex energy claims throughout the world. He also has a wealth of experience in the adjustment of construction claims, hurricane-related losses, property damage, well control and OEE losses, Loss of Production Income (LOPI) and Business Interruption (BI). In his early career he worked at British Steel and on engineering projects in UK-based Petrochemical facilities.
Sham Jacob - Director
BE (Bachelor of Technology in Engineering), MBA (Masters in Business Administration, specialized in Insurance), Licensed Surveyor and Loss Assessor, Lloyds Agency CCSP Stage 1 and 2, Life Member of Insurance Institute of India, CII (Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute).
Sham is a qualified Engineer with more than 25 years’ experience in Marine Insurance and Loss Adjusting. He has held senior positions in UK and Middle East based loss adjusting practices, along with management roles in big companies in the area. Sham has been part of the Dubai office for the last four and half years, where he has handled Marine Hull, Pleasure Crafts, Freight Forwarders Liabilities and Marine Cargo claims amongst others. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration and is a well-known and respected professional in the Insurance market in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent.

Matthew has over 10 years’ experience in the Insurance industry, having held positions in underwriting, data analysis and claims in the United Kingdom. He joined Advanta Whitelaw in 2018 and has experience handling a diverse caseload from our Dubai Office including Property, Construction, Plant and Machinery, Fidelity Guarantee, Jewelers Block and Liability. This is in addition to conducting special investigations relating to theft and fraud. Currently, Matthew is undertaking his Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters examinations.
Diploma in Accounts, Diploma in Insurance, PIC (Professional Insurance Certificate), Certified ISO Quality Auditor.
Moein is a Loss Adjuster with more than 26 years’ experience. He is licensed by the UAE Insurance Authority and is an experienced insurance professional who has worked for insurers and loss adjusters in the Middle East. During his time at Whitelaw, Moein has handled a diverse portfolio of claims, including commercial property, construction, machinery, Liability and cargo as well as Security Surveys.

BEng in Civil Engineering.
Muder has more than 8 years’ experience as a structural engineer working on large-scale complex projects with both engineering design and construction supervision roles. He has a solid background on international design codes and site construction issues, and is now applying his knowledge towards engineering and construction claims whilst pursuing the relevant certifications in loss adjusting.

BEng in Electronics & Instrumentation.
Sriram has over 9 years’ experience in Construction handling both small- and large-scale projects. He has first-hand experience in various roles like design, foundation, procurement and project planning. Sriram will combine his knowledge in Engineering claims management with the study of new credentials and certifications in order to reinforce his skills and experience as a Loss Adjuster.

Hasan Ali Abbas
BEeng in Marine Engineering (AMET University), Insurance Foundation Certificate (The Institute of Finance Saudi Arabia), Cert CII, Member of Saudi Council of Engineers, Saudi Arabia.
Hasan has more than five years’ experience as a Loss Adjuster and Cargo Surveyor. During his career he has been responsible for conducting detailed surveys of all types of cargo alongside property and non-marine surveys, working efficiently and constructively in cooperation with Technical and Operational teams. Hasan is currently undertaking the CILA exams to broaden his professional qualifications in the field.
Languages: English, Urdu, Hindi, Tamil and knowledge of Arabic and Persian.
BEng in Civil Engineering Structure & Enterprise Managing (Universite Saint-Joseph).
Eddy is a Civil Engineer specialised in Structure & Enterprise Managing. He has 5 years’ experience dealing with engineering projects and has worked in companies in Lebanon and Nigeria. His specialties include project management and cost estimation.
