Graham Whitelaw - Regional Director - Middle East
FCILA (Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters), Chartered Insurance Practitioner, ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute), MRICS (Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors), BSc (Bachelor of Science in Law and Economic), Government Registered Expert with the UAE Insurance Authority, FUEDI – ELAE (European Federation of Loss Adjusting Experts).
Graham Whitelaw started his career in the Middle East in 1992 when he was appointed as Operations Director of the Kuwait / Iraq compensation project funded by the UNCC. He later became a key Board Director and a shareholder of a large international loss adjusting firm. As one of the most well-known and respected figures within the UAE insurance market, his areas of expertise comprise Complex Major Engineering, Construction, Business Interruption, Corporate Fraud and Professional Indemnity claims. Currently, Graham is Senior Director at Whitelaw Advanta, predominantly responsible for all technical issues and for overseeing all major and complex losses. He also acts as a focal point for our Principals, with whom he has built long-term relationships over many years.
Jim Pittman - Country Manager
ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute), ACILA (Associate of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters), Course in Business Growth Programme (BGP, Cranfield University).
Jim has 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He has held several managerial positions in companies within the financial and private equity sectors, dealing with claims resolution and also with client’s services improvements and performances. Over the last years, he has acquired a handful knowledge on management and leadership, being responsible for several M&A’s processes, including restructuring a major loss adjusting practice and overseeing its growth. In addition to his roles in critical positions, he has also worked as a consultant, advising on strategic initiatives, undertaking operational and process reviews as well as handling multimillion-dollar claims. At Advanta, Jim will be responsible for taking forward the successful regional operations and further enhance the reputation of our brand through the Middle East by executing strategies focus on clients’ needs, in line with Advanta global standards.
BE (Bachelor of Technology in Engineering), MBA (Masters in Business Administration, specialized in Insurance), Licensed Surveyor and Loss Assessor, Lloyds Agency CCSP Stage 1 and 2, Life Member of Insurance Institute of India, CII (Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute).
Sham is a qualified Engineer with more than 25 years’ experience in Marine Insurance and Loss Adjusting. He has held senior positions in UK and Middle East based loss adjusting practices, along with management roles in big companies in the area. Sham has been part of the Dubai office for the last four and half years, where he has handled Marine Hull, Pleasure Crafts, Freight Forwarders Liabilities and Marine Cargo claims amongst others. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration and is a well-known and respected professional in the Insurance market in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent.

Matthew joined Whitelaw as a Junior Loss Adjuster after working in a big company in Glasgow as an Internal Adjuster. During that time, he dealt with a large and diverse case load of Property claims. Matthew also has experience working within different areas of the UK Insurance Industry including underwriting and data analysis. During his short time at the Dubai office, he has taken ownership of a varied portfolio of claims including Commercial Property, Plant and Machinery, Construction and Fidelity.
B.Eng (Bachelor in Civil Engineering).
Muder has more than 8 years’ experience as a structural engineer working on large-scale complex projects with both engineering design and construction supervision roles. He has a solid background on international design codes and site construction issues, and is now applying his knowledge towards engineering and construction claims whilst pursuing the relevant certifications in loss adjusting.

B.Eng (Electronics & Instrumentation).
Sriram has over 9 years’ experience in Construction handling both small- and large-scale projects. He has first-hand experience in various roles like design, foundation, procurement and project planning. Sriram will combine his knowledge in Engineering claims management with the study of new credentials and certifications in order to reinforce his skills and experience as a Loss Adjuster.

RICS (Chartered Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), CILA (Chartered Loss Adjuster with Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, BSc (Hons) Building Surveying, Glasgow Caledonian University.
Colin is a dual qualified MRICS chartered surveyor and ACILA loss adjuster who specialises in handling major and complex insurance claims. He has been involved in a wide variety of losses in his previous role with a global loss adjuster, with claims ranging from AED500,000 to AED75,000,000 over a variety of sectors including healthcare, waste, agricultural, food processing, leisure, office and retail. Colin previously worked in a private surveying practice where he acted as project manager and contract administrator on a wide variety of construction projects. At Advanta, he joins to strengthen our capacity in the UAE working under Jim Pittman’s leadership.
Dip CII Claims (Chartered Insurance Institute), CIP (Certificate in Insurance Practice), BDMA (British Damage Management Association).
Joyce is a Loss Adjusting professional with over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Before joining Advanta, Joyce worked as UK Head of Claims & Adjusting in an important loss adjusting company predominantly responsible for managing a team of Loss Adjusters operating throughout the UK. In her role, she was responsible for file allocation, quality assurance, auditing, staffing / recruitment, mentoring and report checking. Prior to that, as Service Director the role extended to include Client Account Management. Joyce was tasked with liaising with clients to review and maintain existing accounts. Previously, Joyce worked for Lloyds Banking Group as a Personal Claims Consultant / Domestic Adjuster. She handled a portfolio of domestic (buildings, contents and personal possessions) claims up to £100,000 without supervision, reporting into Underwriters. Joyce joins the Advanta UAE team, led by Jim Pittman, to continue the growth of the Middle East region.
