Oliver has over 20 years’ experience in handling high value CAR / EAR, power, industrial all risk and property claims across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before joining Advanta in 2005, he had also gained valuable experience in working on high-profile losses related to tunnel collapses, major plant and machinery breakdown in the mining, petrochemical and energy industries.

John Donald - Executive Director

John Donald heads up our Global Energy offering as Global Energy Director. He has worked as an energy loss adjuster for over 30 years, initially in the Middle East before transferring to London in 1990. In recent years he acted as Managing Director and Chairman of The Energy & Natural Resources division of a major loss adjusting firm. He has wide international experience in the onshore and offshore energy markets. John has managed the adjustment of many complex energy claims throughout the world. He also has a wealth of experience in the adjustment of construction claims, hurricane-related losses, property damage, well control and OEE losses, Loss of Production Income (LOPI) and Business Interruption (BI). In his early career he worked at British Steel and on engineering projects in UK-based Petrochemical facilities.
David McGhie - Business Development Director
AA Dip (Diploma Architectural Association), Chartered Architect (RIBA - Royal Institute of British Architects).
Throughout his long and distinguished career, David has held a number of directorial positions with leading claims management companies in Europe and Latin America. He is considered one of the leading adjusters in handling tunnelling losses. Before entering loss adjusting in 1980, David gained 12 years’ experience in construction and civil engineering in the UK, Germany and South America. He has specialised in claims related to CAR / EAR, machinery breakdown including ALOP / DSU, as well as risk surveying.

Richard is a Chartered Loss Adjuster with over 34 years’ experience within the insurance industry. Over the course of his career, he has dealt with CAR / EAR (including DSU / ALOP and specialised contractors’ programs for Liquidated Damages), engineering (power generation -including renewables- and BI), Oil & Gas (predominantly onshore/downstream) and Industrial risks losses. Richard began his professional career as a Loss Adjuster in 1986, initially in the dedicated construction division of a London based adjusting operation, dealing with CAR/EAR losses throughout the UK and mainland Europe. Richard has also a long and varied expatriate career path, having worked and lived in South East Asia, the Middle East and France. In 1999 he moved to Mexico to become Regional Director for Latin America of a large international loss adjusting practice and spent over than 13 years living in Latin America, focusing principally on large and complex losses throughout the region. Richard is also a regular contributor to technical publications and seminars in the Americas region and has also acted as an expert witness in several arbitration / litigation proceedings in Latin America.

Andy has over 40 years’ experience in loss adjusting gained across the world. Over the course of his career, he handled construction, engineering and energy claims, as well as related BI. Andy has also worked with the Bankers’ Blanket Bond policies (BBB) and lately he has been involved in major catastrophic losses worldwide. At Advanta, he specialises in onshore energy claims including power generation, industrial and commercial all risks.

Jeff is an experienced engineer with over 20 years working as an electrical engineer and manager in the mining, electrical generation, transmission and distribution and food industry. He has performed insurance surveys for all forms of power generation, underground and open cast mines, as well as heavy industry installations worldwide. He also undertakes failures investigations of equipment, has taken leading roles in the design, specification and commission of large engineering projects and specializes in HV, Generators and Transformers, Steam Boilers, Power and Sub-sea Cables, DC Power and Power Stations, Electrical Transmission and Distribution, Gas, Steam, Hydro-electric and Wind Turbines, Geothermal, Risk Surveys, Pre Risk Surveys, Failure investigations, Risk Engineering Consultation and Instrumentation and Control.

Andrew has 12 years’ experience within the insurance industry including 8 years working as a loss adjuster. Throughout his career, he has acquired considerable experience in handling a wide range of claims related to commercial property damage including CAR / EAR. At Advanta, Andrew continues to deal with a variety of construction and engineering claims which are his main specialities.

After an initial period in design and development, Geoff served British Petroleum as a lead commissioning and operations engineer on several petrochemical projects worldwide. He has 15 years’ experience in international insurance, managing construction and operational losses in upstream and downstream oil and gas, bulk chemicals and power plants.

John has 25 years’ experience working as a loss adjuster for the UK’s leading claims management companies. Throughout his career, he has acquired a thorough practical knowledge of handling commercial losses. John’s specialities include claims related to CAR / EAR, property, fire and liability.
BEng Civil and Structural Engineering (University of Sheffield - United Kingdom), Chartered Loss Adjuster (ACILA - Associate of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters).
David is an experienced loss adjuster specialised in construction, property, engineering and business interruption claims. He originally qualified as a civil engineer and then, in 1983 as an accountant, before moving into loss adjusting after a stint as company accountant. He has worked in the UK and New Zealand for over 30 years and acquired a wealth of experience in construction, property and BI claims. He has handled complex business interruption claims related to the Christchurch earthquakes amongst other natural disaster related claims. Throughout his career, David has also gained valuable management experience running two companies providing repair and reinstatement services to the insurance industry, handling all aspects of their financial and operational matters.
BEng in Mining and Energy (Polytechnic University of Madrid, UPM), Candidate for Masters in Energy Engineering (UPM), currently undertaking the Certificate in Insurance (CII).
Carmen commenced her professional career as an engineer working for major companies in the energy industry in Spain. She entered the London insurance market in 2013 where she has been furthering her career specializing in energy including renewables, construction and engineering claims. Carmen has handled technical claims globally including offshore and onshore risks and major losses occurring during the construction and operational phases of power generation and oil and gas plants.

Amanda has over 16 years’ experience in finance and operations in the Middle East and the UK. At Advanta, she has progressed from an administration role to Loss Adjusting and is currently working in our Energy Division, assisting on a variety of energy related insurance losses. Amanda has worked over five years handling claims in a variety of insurance areas such as Marine, Commercial Property, Fire and Perils, Business Interruption and Machinery Breakdown, among others. Amanda is currently pursuing further CII/CILA qualifications.
